Taxpayers could pick up the bill for losses left by Windmill Hill Golf Course after the former owners went into liquidation leaving debts of more than £150,000.
On Wednesday Milton Keynes Council’s audit committee will meet to discuss the outstanding sum which is made up of £170,000 for the cost of finding new management with the tender costing £57,000.
After deductions this figure nets down to £150,000.
Ward Councillor, Elaine Wales, said: “I want the council to take appropriate action to recover any costs arising from the company’s failure and to ensure the long-term future of the course is secured.”
Council leader, Councillor Andrew Geary, said: “You can rest assured we are doing all we can to minimise the cost of the shortfall from this.”
