Council drives towards sustainable transport network
A NEW travel scheme is being developed in Milton Keynes to take more cars off the road in the morning commute.
Go Travel Solutions has been hired by Milton Keynes Council to establish a ‘sustainable travel business network’ for the city.
The three-month feasibility study will explore the ways in which a network, similar to ones used in Leicester and Stevenage, can be integrated in Milton Keynes, including travel discounts and car-share schemes.
Go Travel Solutions will also sound out potential funding for the project to get off the ground, as well as businesses keen to sign up.
Senior Consultant at Go Travel Solutions, Cliff Jones, said: “Go Travel Solutions has proven ability in delivering business travel networks across the UK, with existing knowledge of Milton Keynes through our work with the Arriva Employer Travel Club project and with Volkswagen as a client.
“The feasibility study with Milton Keynes Council will enable us to apply this experience and expertise. It will help the authority focus on enhancing connectivity and reducing carbon and provide the foundations for employers to gain from reduced travel costs and enhanced business benefits through creating a new business travel network.”
