Students interested in careers in fashion or retail can talk one-on-one with staff from some of the biggest retailers from the UK and abroad during events held at their college.
Midsummer Place Shopping Centre, in Milton Keynes, has launched a new partnership with Milton Keynes College to hold monthly “Midsummer Presents…” events at the Chaffron Way Campus.
Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge were the first to visit the college on May 9, where they showcased their new look store following major refurbishment. June will see GAP take its collection to the college.
Retailers will have the opportunity to showcase themselves to the students, offering discounts, information, freebies and previews.
Martin Hindson, centre manager at Midsummer Place, said: “It is quite unusual for a young person to be able to spend time talking to one of their high street retailers. It is wonderful to have this new opportunity to show off everything that Midsummer Place has to offer and equally a great learning experience for students in the city.”
Milton Keynes College principal, Dr Julie Mills said: “It is so important for students to have the chance to meet prospective employers in the city to discover what their needs are and find out about the possible careers available to them. Providing these sorts of opportunities to meet and engage people from companies where they might one day work is one of the areas where we feel we’re offering students at Milton Keynes College real benefits alongside their courses.”
