COLIN Fox has been unanimously approved as the permanent chief executive of Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Fox had been interim chief executive of the business membership organisation for nine months before the position was put up for review.

Chamber president Silvia Vitiello had kept a promise to review the chief executive’s position despite some surprise that Mr Fox could not simply be approved in the role. At the time she explained that the Chamber is a members’ organisation, ruled by the board and has to ensure good corporate governance.

In an announcement to members on Monday, August 20, she said: “Colin’s appointment has the unanimous approval of the board, the wider voice of the business community and most importantly our members. We are now confidently moving forward with a stronger member’s organisation in safe hands.” Mr Fox was considered to be the best choice for the position following an interview with candidates.

Mr Fox said: “I’m delighted to be given this great opportunity to work with the Board of Directors and with an enthusiastic and motivated team. We are taking forward our plans to build a dynamic and successful Chamber.

“Significant progress is being made by engaging professionally with our members and stakeholders, to firmly establish a financially viable and sustainable business, with a clear voice of authority in the business community.”
