A SPECIALIST international SIM card supplier from Bletchley came to the rescue when a mobile phone company pulled the plug on about 2,000 customers.

GeoSIM, in Victoria Road, stepped in when the firm suspended its roaming SIM card service to travelling customers on January 11.

GeoSIM adopted the customers of the supplier. They would have suffered loss of their mobile phone service and risked losing call credit.

Ed Neal, MD of Geodesa Limited, distribututors of GeoSIM Global Sim Card said: “Everyone knows how inconvenient it is when you are unable to use your mobile. It’s bad enough when this happens at home, but when you are travelling abroad, staying in touch with home and the office is vital. Customers of the Canadian company would have been extremely inconvenienced and would have lost a lot on money had GeoSIM not come to their assistance.”

In conjunction with the Canadian company, GeoSIM put in place a process to adopt customers seamlessly allowing users to keep their phone number, call credit and service operational with minimal fuss and disruption.

Mr Neal added: “In the past six years I have seen a number of Global SIM providers come and go. In some cases GeoSIM is able to help out, but not always. It’s difficult for the customer to choose the right company, but in my experience it is often the ‘start ups’ that disappear as quickly as they came on the scene”

GeoSIM is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator established in 2005. Mr Neal set up the company after he ran up some huge mobile phone bills whilst working overseas in the offshore telecommunications industry. The company was one of the first Global SIM card providers and distributes its products and services from its website and through a chain of affiliates, resellers and dealers based in the UK, USA, Cyprus, Lebanon, Nigeria and Israel.
