BUSINESS advisor Grant Thornton has made eight new senior appointments in Milton Keynes, serving the business community in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and the East Midlands.

Steve White, Hazel Platt, Dave Callan, Kal Nijjar, Trevor Shaw, Shaun Young, Jeremy Read and David Newstead have all joined Grant Thornton in the Milton Keynes regional practice bringing the total number of people working at Silbury Boulevard to more than 200.

Malcolm Gomersall, office managing partner said: “We are working with and targeting the region’s dynamic, growing businesses and their owners, and we are bringing in more like-minded people to boost the existing team’s capacity and skill set.”

The appointment of assurance partner David Newstead in 2011 marked the start of this investment programme and he is now joined by:

Steve White joined the advisory team as a director bringing 15 years corporate finance experience in mergers, acquisitions and management buyouts, and a network of strong intermediary relationships.

Hazel Platt joins the tax team as a director. Her 17 years’ experience covers advice on international and large corporate tax matters as well as those affecting owner managed businesses. Hazel advises companies on the efficient management of their tax affairs in line with business objectives.

Dave Callan takes on a new role as Grant Thornton’s VAT director for the region. He brings 22 years’ experience of providing companies with support in strategic planning and practical implementation of their indirect taxation.

Trevor Shaw is another addition to the tax team with 20 years’ experience advising on corporation tax matters for businesses ranging from owner-managed to international groups.

Kal Nijjar joins as an associate director and leads a six strong employer solutions team. Shaun Young also joins the employer solutions team as an associate director and focused on finding cost savings and solutions for employers.

Jeremy Read is the latest assurance director appointment to Grant Thornton. He is experienced in advising a range of dynamic businesses throughout their life-cycle from start-up through to exit, in both the international and domestic market place.
