A Milton Keynes beauty salon which started in a conservatory and now employs five people is celebrating its first anniversary.

Anita’s Beauty Centre, in Dulverton Drive, has increased its workforce and services during a successful first year.

The venture has grown from owner Anita Deokar’s conservatory, where she operated as a sole trader, to becoming an established and thriving enterprise in the North Furzton Local Centre, Furzton.

The salon’s workers marked its first year in business by blowing out candles on a birthday cake.

Mrs Deokar, an experienced beautician, said: “We have so many happy and regular customers because we deliver high-quality beauty treatments with a first-class customer service. Together with a lot of hard work, we believe this has been our recipe for success. If you deliver the best possible service in this tough economy you will triumph.”

The services offered by the salon include eyebrow threading, waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, nails and massages.

Over the year it has unveiled a wide range of facilities for its customers, including online booking, text message reminders for appointments, web contact forms and a computerised-loyalty scheme.

The salon has also used social media campaigns and search engine optimisation to boost its trade, with its website www.anitasbeautycentre.co.uk receiving high ranking in beauty-related searches.
