Midsummer Place

WHILE Jessops, Comet and HMV fall by the wayside, Midsummer Place welcomed more customers than ever before in 2012.

Figures released by the centre reveal a total of 17.5 million people visited last year, increasing from 17.275 million in 2011 - the largest footfall since Midsummer Place opened.

The figures also showed that some stores’ early sales in the build up to Christmas encourages an extra 200,000 shoppers in November compared to the same period in 2011 - an increase of 11.35 per cent.

Helen Snooks, Senior Asset Manager at Legal & General Property, said: “These latest figures are great news for the Centre and Milton Keynes as a whole, and clearly show the strength of the retail offer provided at Midsummer Place.

“We strongly believe our emphasis on the importance of bringing attractive and unique retailers to our Centre and therefore Milton Keynes is essential to the growth of ‘high street’ retail and keeping customers engaged.”
