MILTON Keynes has the 10th largest serviced office market in the UK and the 41st biggest in the world, according to new research.

Serviced offices are rented space and equipment that can be used by start-up businesses, mobile workers or even during refurbishments.

Flexible office solutions specialists Instant say the growth in serviced space in MIlton Keynes from 11 centres in 2007 to 23 in 2011 reflects a significant change in the way people work and how businesses occupy their office space.

The figures make Milton Keynes the 41st largest serviced office market in the world, and 10th in the UK, with a total of 3,126 individual serviced desks.

The UK is the largest market and has 36 per cent of the world’s total centres, says Instant.

Patrick Elliott chief executive of Instant said: “We believe the reason for the growth is that advances in technology have revolutionised the way businesses occupy office space. Large corporate offices that would traditionally provide a desk for each employee are now reducing the amount of space that they occupy and embracing flexible working practices.

“The internet has allowed workers to have greater flexibility relating to when and where they work; however, they still require a suitable environment from which to conduct business.”
