AT least one of the thousands of dedicated runners pounding the redways of Milton Keynes during Sunday’s inaugural marathon will be powered by food from McDonald’s.
Franchisee Ken Tomkins, pictured, runs the fast food restaurants at the Westcroft District Centre and at Xscape.
Ken, who is investing about £800,000 in the two restaurants, is also a fan of the quality of the food.
Ken said: “Having run London in 2000 I’ve been saying ‘never again’ to running a marathon for 12 years now.
“But maybe because it’s an Olympic year, maybe because this is the first MK Marathon and maybe because I’m now a local franchisee something has compelled me to register for this event and I’m well on track with my training.”
Ken also aims to turn in a very respectable three hours 30 minutes and raise at least £2,000 for 14 Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provide family rooms at 14 hospitals.
