Positive about future

A multinational assurance, tax and advisory service has expanded its local leadership team in Milton Keynes to four partners and three directors.

Director Jon Gilpin has been with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) for 13 years and is moving to the company's Midsummer Boulevard headquarters from the firm's Birmingham office.

Mr Gilpin said: "I have already started meeting with businesses in the Milton Keynes area and I'm encouraged by their positivity about the future, balanced with sensible realism."

He said there is still a great deal of uncertainty in the marketplace and while the emergency budget has moved things on, companies will have to continue to move forward cautiously as various economic factors, not least the extent of public sector cuts, become clearer in the second half of the year.

Mr Gilpin added: "PwC is forecasting slow growth and at this time it remains important for businesses to plan ahead with care. For many businesses, particularly small and medium-sized companies, the role of the auditor is essential in both assessing business and financial risks and controls but also more widely in respect of helping businesses manage their way through potentially continuing economic volatility."

Mr Gilpin's experience includes working with a wide range of companies – from plcs to owner managed businesses, across a variety of industry sectors. He has also worked closely with businesses owned by private equity houses as well as those owned by inward investors.

Mike Robinson, partner and head of assurance at PwC's Milton Keynes office, added: "We are delighted to welcome Jon to the firm's Milton Keynes office. He will be a valuable addition to our assurance team and his move to the area reflects the firm's ongoing commitment to extending its presence in Milton Keynes and strengthening the breadth and depth of services for local companies."
