Some 1,300 Royal Mail employees in the Milton Keynes area have been awarded a total of £4.6million shares in the newly privatised company.
And according to the Royal Mail only a tiny percentage of the 150,000 UK employees have turned down the chance of becoming city fat cats.
Each eligible full-time employee in Royal Mail is entitled to 725 Free Shares with an initial market value on October 15 of £3,545.25
But the profiting posties won’t be able to cash in all their money immediately as the taxman only allows £3,000 of free shares in any one year. So the balance will be held over until the 2014/15 tax year.
