A Milton Keynes restaurant has been given an ‘injection of energy’ in its first major refurbishment since opening in 2006.

Pan-Asian restaurant the Silk Road, in Grafton Gate East, also took the opportunity recently to welcome new award-winning head chef Saj Khan.

Saj Khan, named Best Asian Chef in Milton Keynes 2012 in the Food and Leisure Awards, joined the team more than a month ago and has created a new menu. Guests at a recent re-opening party were invited to sample each dish from the menu.

The refurbishment includes a new wine and cocktail bar area as well as a “lighter and fresher feel to the restaurant”, explains General Manager Hoq Abdul.

He added: “The Silk Road has built up a strong and loyal following over the past years but it needed an injection of energy to bring it in line with what today’s diners expect.

“The new look is one thing but our food is on a new level. We are absolutely delighted to welcome Saj to the team who has taken over the kitchen and brought in his ideas, experience and imagination that customers can expect to see.”
