Uni turns to Evans on the future of economy

MORE than 200 people heard a lecture on the challenges faced by the UK economy at The Open University Business School.

Respected BBC broadcaster Evan Davis gave a lecture entitled Reflections on the British Economy.

He talked about the challenges faced by the UK economy and its international performance.

The lecture on November 1, was part of Evan’s role as Visiting Professor of the Public Understanding of Business at The Open University Business School.

The OU has a strategy to support research, scholarship and enterprise. The lecture was hosted in association with the Economic and Social Research Council’s Festival of Social Science.

Professor James Fleck, Dean of The Open University Business School and Professor of Innovation Dynamics, said: “Evan’s appointment is important as part of The Open University’s mission of widening participation in education and he will, I am sure, help us to excite interest in issues of major importance in the modern globalised world.”
