Universities make partnerships with Indonesia

editorial image

Two universities in the Milton Keynes area have signed partnership agreements with Indonesia.

Cranfield and the Open University were included in eight partnership agreements designed to strengthen educational links with the south east Asian islands.

Cranfield’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clifford Friend, is part of a UK Working Group which has been key in establishing and advising the shape and direction of higher degree activities between the two countries. The university played a central part in the delivery of the partnership agreement.

Cranfield is a wholly postgraduate institution known as the UK’s most business-engaged university. It will be creating a new double degree, MSc by Research in Engineering and Technology, in co-operation with the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).

The Cranfield/Indonesia double degree will build engineering research capability in Indonesia and cement long-term relationships between UK-based business, the University, ITB and knowledge-based business sectors in Indonesia. The high calibre ITB students will come Cranfield to complete the second year of their MSc.

It is hoped both countries will benefit from the transfer of knowledge.
