AN amazing 1.2 million visits were made to the beach at thecentre:mk last year.
Last year was the second that Middleton Hall had been transformed with 160 tonnes of soft white sand, beach huts, rides and games.
The Beach was introduced in 2009 as a response to harder economic times as people looked for ways to take ‘staycation’ holidays in the UK and take part in much more local activities.
Visitors have come from across the region and the centre has seen a ‘recognisable increase’ in what is known as ‘dwell time’ when people stick around for longer, increasing the chance of shops benefiting from increased spending.
This year The Beach will be in place from now until August 31. There will be new attractions, including MK Dons coaching, Victorian retailers’ carts and traditional seaside rides.
