STAFF and children from Busy Bees Nursery had a roaring good time as they celebrated Chinese New Year.

The Oldbrook-based nursery made sure all the children were dressed up as different Chinese years with some dressed as lions, mice and of course, dragons.

Despite many people celebrating the start of 2012 the Chinese are celebrating the start of year 4710, the year of the Dragon with a number of events taking place all over the world.

Children dressed up as the animals of the year they were born, made a dragon, then paraded it and even sampled some Chinese food.

Nursery Manager at Busy Bees, Lorraine Harben, said “This was a great opportunity for the children to learn about a different culture and their celebrations, especially one so rich in history.

“The children loved taking part in all the activities, and we will definitely be celebrating next year!”
