Cancer victim is touched by global kindness

A carer who is battling severe cancer has been helped by 100,000 kind strangers from across the world.

Dawn Kitchener, 44, spent months having chemotherapy for stage three inflammatory breast cancer - only to find the cancer had returned.

The last straw was when the roof on her Newport Pagnell home started leaking, damaging the house and giving her young sons asthma,

Caring colleagues at Park House care home for the elderly in Tyringham started a crowdfunding page and raised £3,000 to repair the roof.

But Dawn and husband Tony, who is also a carer, were still struggling to find the cash to repair the damaged rooms.

Global charity 52 Lives stepped in and appealed to its 100,000 followers globally.

They appealed for cash for a plasterer, painter and gifts for the couple’s boys.

“Every gift on the wishlist we have set up was bought within 24 hours! The power of kindness is amazing,” said a 52 Lives spokesman.

The charity aims to change someone’s life for the better every week of the year.
