A fundraising event went with a swing on Saturday, when the Sportsman’s Rest in Shenley Church End hosted a charity concert in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Photographer Simon St Clare sent in these pictures of the annual event, organised by Denbigh School teacher Ed Jones, who has leukaemia.

Bands playing included Breathless, Roadworn and Mr Jones’ band, The Enigmas.

Money was raised from selling advertising in the programmes, which were sponsored by Shenley Junior Squash Club, as well as a raffle, a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ competition, stalls selling cupcakes and cookies, and an auction of donated items.

Last year’s concert raised £4,700 and it is hoped even more will have been raised this year.

Mr Jones has raised more than £30,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research since 2006.
