A city charity is aiming to make a change for residents who need it the most.

Love in Action, based at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fishermead, sees people dedicating two hours of their time a week to help people in desperate need. They look to feed around 30 people by giving them a hot meal and a food parcel to see them through another week.

A spokesman said: “Some of our members go hungry for days, so providing a hot meal and a weekly food parcel is an essential element to their lives. We also supply clean clothing, shoes and warm blankets.”

The group is now looking to get as many donations as possible of food, clothing, shoes, bed linen and toiletries and other personal hygiene items.

In the months to come they will be looking to run a one to one help group where volunteers can help members, organise bible study groups, distribute Christian literature and reach out to local supermarkets to help with food parcels.
