A CITY childcare provider has been named as one of the best companies to work for in a national listing.

Newport Pagnell-based Childbase came in at number 23 on The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For list – the only childcare provider to be included in it.

As well as jumping eight places on last year, the company also finished first for making the most of employee skills and second place in the Personal Growth category which makes sure employees are challenged and given opportunities for career development.

Childbase HR director Helen Bass was delighted with the results but urged the company not to be complacent.

She said: “The competition gives us the opportunity to celebrate our successes, but more importantly, it is a valuable tool in assessing the general health of the company and identifying areas in which we can come together to improve all aspects of our working life.”

Holly Willshire, who works at Childbase’s Woodlands Day Nursery – where she won practitioner of the year – said: “It really is a great company to work for. I love the fact that what we as employees say really makes a difference to how the company is run.”
