Pupils at Barleyhurst Park Primary School tucked into a day of fun filled food activities as part of their Healthy Living Week.

Cygnet Catering, the local school meals provider were invited along to highlight to pupils the importance of healthy eating.

Pupils were given a live healthy food cooking demonstration as part of Cygnet’s ‘Chef’s Theatre’, before tasting the delights of cajun chicken wraps and sweet and sour stir fried vegetables.

Smoothie making sessions also took place with the pupils making their own choices about which fruit to include.

Children enjoyed other activities throughout the day including learning more about healthy food choices through a fruit and veg quiz and healthy eating booklets were handed out to the children.

Cygnet provides tasty, healthy, nutritious and cost effective hot meals to over 4000 pupils daily in 68 Primary Schools and 9 Day Nurseries in Milton Keynes.

Sharon Vallance, Cygnet’s Contract Manager, said: “We always enjoy working together with schools and had a great time with the pupils at Barleyhurst. We all had a great time teaching children how to enjoy different fruits and vegetables, cooked in a healthy way.”
