Families are being reminded to Choose Well and not hop to A&E over the School Easter Holidays unless they are faced with a life threatening condition.
All parents want what is best for their child, however many needlessly take them to A&E when they can be treated quicker and more conveniently closer to home.
Dr Nicola Smith, chairman of NHS Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Parents can visit their local pharmacy for advice and medication for many common complaints such as colds, strains, headaches and minor infections. If you require urgent medical attention outside of normal GP opening hours you can contact the NHS 111 service to be directed to the most appropriate service for your family’s needs.
“The Milton Keynes Urgent Care Centre is open everyday. This service is for the assessment and treatment of conditions which you think cannot wait for a GP appointment at your own practice, and requires urgent and necessary attention.”
Online information is available to remind people on their different treatment options including bank holiday pharmacy opening times. To view visit www.miltonkeynesccg.nhs.uk/choosewell
