Reverend Canon John Robertson has been appointed the new Director of Ecumenical Mission for Milton Keynes.

John was born and brought up in Gloucester where his parents and sister still live. After school and university, he moved to Rugby and began work as an engineer on large steam turbines for power stations. Whilst in Rugby, he met and married Sue and they have three children now all grown up. Following six years in Rugby, John went to train for the Anglican ministry and then started out as a curate in Kenilworth near Coventry, followed by an appointment as a Chaplain at the University of York. Since 2000, he has been the vicar of Grove, a large ‘urban village’ near Wantage in Oxfordshire. He relaxes playing the piano and enjoys walking and theatre.

John said: “I’m really looking forward to joining you at the end of April, to living in a modern, vibrant, expanding city, and most importantly, to discovering something of your “story of faith” and sharing in it as we together engage in mission in Milton Keynes.”

John’s Welcome Service takes place at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, Central Milton Keynes on Saturday, April 28 at 2pm.
