A little girl with a big heart is sporting a shorter ‘do’ after sacrificing her crowning glory to help other youngsters.
Nine-year-old Sophia Butcher has had her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust, who provide real-hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness.
Sophia’s mum, Carla Bosson, was surprised but delighted by the Longmeadow School pupil’s idea.
Carla said: “She saw a news article about a little girl who had lost her hair to cancer.
“She asked why the girl didn’t have any hair and I explained it was because she had been poorly.
“Sophia then told me she was going to give her hair to a little girl who had lost her hair to cancer.
“At first, although it was a lovely thing to do, I thought that it was a spur of the moment thing and that she would forget about it. She is a truly amazing little girl.”
The youngster had her hair cut at the graduate salon at Milton Keynes College.
Sophia has raised £1,050 in sponsorship so far – add to the total at www.justgiving.com/Sophia-Butcher
