THE number of people registered as unemployed across the city has dropped by 260 in the last year.
The figures, released yesterday, showed the number of people who were out of work had fallen to 6,160 from 6,420.
Despite the total number of unemployed across the country rising from 532,563 to 545,414, the city saw the reduction, which in the current climate can be considered as a good result for Milton Keynes.
A new initiative was recently introduced to audit the skills of those who were currently looking for work.
This was because people were being incorrectly assessed as having the skills for jobs that they were not suited to.
The new scheme could see the figures drop even further come 2012.
