Footballers, McDonald’s and a transport company joined forces for a 24-hour 24-mile litter-pick last month.

The event saw the team pick up 120kg of litter for recycling in 103 bags, as the crew from seven McDonald’s restaurants across Milton Keynes joined forces with the Woburn and Wavendon Lions U13 football team and Serco Group plc, with all pickers donning high-vis yellow jackets on a route begining at the Xscape.

McDonald’s franchisee Ken Tomkins said: “When I envisaged this litter pick more than six months ago, I never imagined we’d have 50 volunteers at all hours of the day and night – including seven who covered the full 24 miles.

“Completing a 24-hour litter pick in 29 degree heat is a great achievement.”
