Melany Hollingsworth is well and truly in the driving seat after winning The MK Community Foundation 25th anniversary car raffle.

Raffle sponsors Volkswagen Group UK Ltd, the centre: mk and representatives from local community groups gathered at Volkswagen’s head office in Milton Keynes to hand over keys to the car.

The presentation also marked £1 million raised for the local community since the raffle was launched in 1989.

Melany’s winning ticket was purchased at the centre:mk from local group Maka Pinoy. A total of 121 groups took part this year and raised over £37,000. The raffle gives local voluntary organisations the essential opportunity to raise vital funds for their organisations with the balance of the proceeds supporting the MK Community Foundation’s grants programme.

Shahnaz Hussain, voluntary sector development officer at the MK Community Foundation, said: “The Charity Car Raffle is an excellent example of how a partnership of people and organisations can work together to the benefit of the local community.

“ The raffle has been highly successful in engaging the support and enthusiasm of both commercial organisations and a wide variety of voluntary groups and charities.

“By working together the raffle has now raised over £1 Million since 1989.”

The MK Community extends thanks to the centre:mk for donating the prime ticket selling location for the car, Volkswagen Group UK Ltd for donating the Polo Match and Freestone Creative for this year’s car display.
