A music video put together by residents and staff at two Milton Keynes care centres is heading straight to the top.
The fun-loving staff at the Bluebirds and Mallard House neurological care centres sang and danced to their own version of the Pharrell Williams hit ‘Happy’.
They have entered the video for an annual competition called Care Home Idol, which promotes and celebrates all forms of entertainment in care homes across Britain.
And already the ‘Happy’ video has shot up to number five in the contest, picking up 150 votes in its first 72 hours on the site.
It has been viewed more than 2,000 times.
Wendy Thompson, general manager sales and marketing at PJ Care which owns and manages the centres, came up with the idea for the video.
Wendy said the project was to show people what vibrant and joyful places care centres can be – and also to have a brilliant activity to entertain and excite residents and staff.
She said: “We spent a day visiting our specialist neurological centres. We have two in Milton Keynes – Bluebirds and Mallard House – as well as Eagle Wood in Peterborough. We also filmed at our head office in Bletchley.
“It was a wonderful day, and so many people had the chance to be involved in the project.
“It certainly put a smile on the faces of our residents and staff – and the video we produced seems to have made people happy too!
“There are lots of lovely comments on the Care Home Idol website from people who have seen it.
“We’d love to win the competition, of course,” she added. “But just to have the fabulous comments from people who were involved in the day of filming, and from the people who have seen the video, is reward enough.”
