Olympic hero becomes charity ambassador

Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford has added another string to his bow - he is the new ambassador of charity website Localgiving.com.

Rutherford, who lives in Woburn Sands, is offering support to small charities and groups, who he believes are the unsung heroes of our community.

Localgiving.com lets visitors find and donate to small charities and community groups all over the UK.

In a light-hearted video on www.Localgiving.com, Greg returns to his old primary school in Milton Keynes to launch his ambassadorship.

Rutherford says that travelling all over the globe and to various places across the UK led him to realise that the sense of community he felt as a child in now missing from society.

He said: “I got involved with Localgiving.com because I could see that they are trying to get that sense of community back in UK neighbourhoods.”
