Park strife goes on as residents await green spot

Residents who bought homes on an estate named after a park are still waiting for the recreation area – after FIVE years.

Redhouse Park just outside Newport Pagnell has a patch of scrub land surrounded by a 6ft metal fence as its not-so-impressive centrepiece.

Householders say they have complained numerous times to developers Ben Bailey to no avail.

“We don’t understand it,” said one resident. “The whole area was obviously planned around a park, otherwise it would have a different name.

“The houses are built and the first people moved on to the estate in 2009. So why is it taking so long to build a simple park?” More than a year ago Ben Bailey put up a wooden slide and frame in the park. But work suddenly stopped and the area was fenced off. The resident said: “It’s even more frustrating to see half of a play area that our children can’t use.”

A spokesman for Ben Bailey PR team said the company was “committed” to providing a play park and promised work would be completed later this year, subject to planning approval.
