Rotary club buys Willen Hospice an ambulance in memory of Hazel

A rotary club has raised £34,000 to buy Willen Hospice a specially-adpated minibus called Hazel's ambulance in memory of a member's wife.

Hazel Stuart received excellent care from the hospice in 2014 and her husband Brian wanted to thank them.

The Wolverton and Stony Stratford Rotary Club member said: “My family and I wanted to do something really special for the hospice and I was so pleased when my fellow Rotarians agreed that buying a new ambulance would be a great project, albeit a challenging one for a club our size.

“It has taken just over a year to reach our target of £34,000 through numerous fundraising events and donations, and we are extremely grateful for all the help and support that we have received in making this possible,” he added.

On Friday the minibus was officially launched.

Paul Hinson, Chief Executive at Willen Hospice said: “This is an incredible fundraising achievement and we’re hugely thankful...The new bus will prove invaluable in being able to comfortably transport our patients to and from the Hospice”
