Two Milton Keynes College students demonstrated real business acumen by becoming the first graduates of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA).
The college teamed up with the Dragon’s Den star last September, and students have since set up their own companies, ranging from a floristry to an IT service consultancy.
The course has been designed to engage students in networking events and put them head-to-head with other PJEA students in national and local competitions.
Successful graduates included Matthew Pickering and James Danemann.
Matthew said: “Studying for the Peter Jones Academy Level 3 Diploma has taught me how to run my business successfully.
“My knowledge base and business acumen has been fine-tuned through the hands-on work experience I have received and from the expert tutors who have taught me.”
The graduation ceremony was held at the Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden and attended by successful students from all over the country.
Peter Jones was delighted to recognise the graduates’ efforts. He said: “The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduation is always such a highlight for me – these are the ones to watch, the young people who will be changing the world.”
