VIDEO: Battle for Milton Keynes chef of the year heats up

A cook-off to find the crème de la crème of chefs in Milton Keynes took place yesterday with nine talented contestants ravenous for the crown.

The Milton Keynes Food Awards chef of the year competition saw each contestant prepare two starters, two main courses and a Choux pastry swan dessert.

Those vying for the title included Harry Wilson of Black Horse Woburn, David Green of Mercure Parkside, Lewis Moore of The Birch Woburn, Marchin Pudlik of Nonna’s Woburn Sands, Olivier Bertho of Olivier’s Woburn, Abdul Salam of Calcutta Stoney Stratford, Stefano Boi of Swan Salford, Paul Gallagher of Double tree (The stadium) and George Spiers - Murreys (Whittlebury Hall).

The recipe was provided by the MK college in Bletchley, but each chef had to present their own interpretation of the dishes and were given three hours to do so.

They were then each judged on the preparation, taste and presentation the judges who included Josef Plattner - Head chef at Cranfield school of business, Gavin Sokhi - Skyline taxi’s owner, Trevor Garrod - Savona food supplies, Martin Bates - CEO craft guild of chefs, Phil fanning - Head chef at Paris House, George Atkinson - Clark The Woburn Wine Company and Paul Eason - Development chef at Pidy.

The top three chefs will be announced at the MK Food and Leisure Awards on May 11 at the Jurys Inn.
