HOMELESS young people living at two St Mungo’s homeless centres were given a huge pre-Christmas boost when they had a visit from Homebase staff on Wednesday.
Around 90 staff from the Homebase head office, armed with paint brushes and cleaning equipment, helped to spruce up the centres at Church Street and Western Road which help to home 54 young people between 16 and 21.
They also help them in the next stages of their life by helping them to find work or get back into education.
The team of volunteers donated soft furnishings, wall art and Christmas decorations to help rejuvenate communal areas before getting their hands dirty in the garden.
Kelly Morgan, from St Mungo’s said, “The Homebase team have been brilliant. We can’t believe what a difference they have made. Their hard work has made the sites feel more like home for our residents, which is quite pertinent during the festive season, and we wish to thank Homebase for their support.”
Elaine Northeast from Homebase said, “The team and I have really enjoyed getting together to give the sites a bit of a spruce up. We were pleased to have been able to support this fantastic local cause which makes a real difference to young people’s lives.”
