Council apologises for more delays in Milton Keynes' rubbish collections

They blame the problem on the wet weather throughout June.

A council spokesman said; “There were some streets that could not be collected from yesterday as part of the catch up collections - these will be done today.”

He added: “The Council is aware that these delays have caused some inconvenience to residents and we apologise for that however we are working with our contractor Serco to do everything possible to catch up with the rubbish collections and get back to normal. Street cleansing crews will be out as normal too.

“June 2016 has been a very wet month with high rainfall in a short space of time and these weather conditions have hampered the landfill drop-offs which in turn causes delays to our own bin collection schedule in MK.”

Additional crews from private contractors Serco have been working to cover the back log of rubbish, and usual collections will continue as normal alongside the catch up collections.
