Council crack down on false use of disabled parking in Milton Keynes

Disabled drivers have pleaded with councillors to support action to stop the continued misuse of disabled parking bays.

This, according to the council, has been an on-going problem for some time.

Councillor for West Bletchley, one of the biggest wards where this has been raised as an issue, Mick Legg, said: “This is an on-going problem I have previously raised it with Milton Keynes Council.

“I think we now need to take stronger action, it is not right that disabled people with blue badges cannot park in designated bays provided specifically for them.”

Councillor Legg has written to Milton Keynes Council, asking for CCTV to be installed so that the disabled bays can be monitored.

He has also offered to use his £1,000 community budget to pay for installing the CCTV.

Councillor Legg added: “The abuse of disabled parking bays has gone on too long.

“It is not right that disabled people with blue badges cannot park at their local shops because the bays are being used illegally by other drivers.”
