Council pledge to improve Central Milton Keynes market

A campaign to improve CMK market has taken a step forward as the council has promised to look into possible options for redevelopment by next year.

Footfall to the market has been tumbling because of high parking prices and lack of investment in the area, according to Tory councillor Alex Walker.

He said, “Traders and shoppers are very worried about the future of CMK market. People are simply choosing to shop elsewhere.”

MK Council last week pledged to undertake a study to determine what improvements are needed.

Councillor Walker said: “This is welcome progress but more can be done and much sooner.”

He wants to lower parking charges to 50p an hour to encourage more shoppers.
