AN able-bodied councillor has apologised “unreservedly” after she was caught parking in a disabled-only bay outside a Bletchley church.

Green party member Liz Campbell admits she used the bay outside Whaddon Way church because she was late picking up her daughter from school.

She was caught in the act by a genuine disabled driver, who was forced to park across the road.

““We couldn’t believe it when we were told the owner of the car without a Blue Badge was Councillor Campbell. She should know better,” said the driver.

Ms Campbell, who sits as an independent on Milton Keynes Council and represents the Green party on West Bletchley Town Council, told the Citizen: “I’m a busy working mum of four and I was rushing to collect my seven year-old from Abbeys Primary School.

“The parking outside the school is terrible. I didn’t want to park on yellow lines so I nipped into the disabled bay nearby.

“I know I was wrong and I won’t do it again.”
