POLICE set up a scene watch along the V4 Watling Street today after four men broke into a pub in the area and threatened a member of staff with a gun.

The incident happened at approximately 12.25am when four black men wearing balaclavas gained access to the Fayre and Square pub, next to the Premier Inn, in Shirwell Crescent, Furzton, via a fire door and threatened a member of staff with a gun before making off with cash from the safe.

Enquiries are ongoing, but police officers would like to speak to anyone in the area at the time.

They are particularly interested to speak to the owners of a small dark-coloured three door hatchback and another dark-coloured but larger vehicle which were parked nearby on the V4 around the time of the incident.

Earlier in the day the area including an underpass close by the scene was cordoned as police investigated.

Detective Sergeant, Phil Walsh, investigating, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident.

“In particular, I would like to speak to anyone who saw a small dark-coloured three door hatchback and another dark-coloured but larger vehicle which were parked nearby on the V4 around the time of the incident.”
