Thieves who broke into a jewellers at centre:mk made a carefully planned escape after thwarting police efforts with tree trunks and a deliberate fire.
The burglars caused extensive damage after the high value raid in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They managed to hamper a police pursuit after padlocking a chain across the access road with tree trunks and a fire near the shop.
The offenders caused extensive damage to both the property and surrounding area and police are now appealing for witnesses.
Officers were alerted to the robbery at 3.38am at Fraser Hart, with roads around the centre reopened on Sunday morning.
Det Ch Insp Kelly Glister, of Thames Valley Police, said: “It is fortunate that nobody was hurt during this incident.
“This was a deliberate and well-planned robbery which would have meant the offenders would have been in the area beforehand as part of their preparations.”
