Teenagers robbed in city underpass

A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were robbed as they walked through an underpass close to the Theatre District.

The pair were walking from the theatre district towards Campbell Park at about 5.25pm on Thursday, August 22, when they were approached by two groups of young people. One of the males knocked the boy’s baseball cap off. Another male then punched him twice in the face while another one of the group demanded their mobile phones which they handed over.

The property stolen included a black BlackBerry Curve mobile phone with a two part black and white case and a black Chicago Bulls baseball cap which had a red peak and “Bulls” written in red above the logo.

The offender who hit the boy is black, about 5ft 6ins tall, and aged about 16 or 17. He was wearing a polo shirt and jeans and was carrying a small black bag.

Det Con Nick Ramscar, who is investigating, said: “We are keen to trace these people as soon as possible and anyone who recognises them is asked to get in touch.”
