A WOMAN has warned other motorists to be on the look out after a thief smashed her car window and stole her handbag.
Portia Simmond had left the bag in the vehicle in Newport Road, Woolstone at 11am on Sunday.
She said: “I normally wouldn’t leave my bag in the car, but it happened so quickly. I am so upset about this, I just wanted to make people aware.”
Campbell Park parish clerk Dominic Warner said the area was not a crime hotspot, but added that people should always be careful when parking in remote places. The council has since erected signs warning motorists not to leave valuables in their cars.
A police spokesman said Woolstone is a low crime area, but added that opportunistic thieves occasionally work there.
