FORMER offenders are to spend this year making Central Milton Keynes spick and span as part of the Community Payback scheme.

Teams of 10 people will be working under trained supervision every Monday until July next year.

They will tidy up landscaped areas, paint railings, refurbish street furniture and carry out general cleaning.

The scheme is organised by the probation service and all the materials will be provided by Milton Keynes Council.

Business owners are also supporting the scheme by providing facilities for refreshments and breaks.

The team will complete 3,000 hours under Community Payback, which a compulsory scheme through which offenders can make amends to their community.
