A Milton Keynes-born high street tea chain has joined a very exclusive club by being amomg only five winners of a maximum Five Cups accreditation at the Beverage Standards Association (BSA) Awards.
Tea Monkey’s first store, launched at Midsummer Place Shopping Centre in Central Milton Keynes in 2011, also shared in the glory of a Best Tea Experience in the Grab and Go Awards.
The brand, founded by entrepreneur and business consultant Tracey Bovingdon has another branch in Bath and is due to expand into a number of other major cities, including London, Birmingham and Manchester and will launch a franchise 2013.
Tracey said; “Last year, in our first year of business, we won Four Cups but this year we’ve taken it even further and managed to win the ultimate Five for our outstanding standards. What makes this really special is that this is for our coffee as well as our teas - a great accolade for the Tea Monkey team who worked so hard to make it happen.”
Tea Monkey sell more than 40 types of loose tea and an extensive range of pyramid tea and wellness teas as well as coffee.
The Beverage Standards Awards were held at the Power Road Studios in Chiswick, West London, on September 20.
Judging was undertaken by anonymous BSA member-trained experts and the winners were Pumphrey’s Coffee Centre and Brewing Emporium, Newcastle, Cafelicious, Swindon, Coffee Fix, Gatley, Spring Espresso, York and Tea Monkey, Milton Keynes
