THREE city dancers will be appearing in the Olympic Games closing ceremony on August 12.

Teacher, Laura Forsyth, will be joined by students Eve and Lillia Gilliland as part of a cast of 200 dancers performing with ex principal of the Royal Ballet Darcey Bussell.

Laura and the girls will be among 200 dancers from across Great Britain performing on the night and they are looking forward to their moment in the spotlight.

Laura said: “Seeing the opening ceremony and the number of people watching we got goosebumps.

“We were approached in March and have been rehearsing intensely, sometimes 10 hours a day, since April.”

Despite not being able to disclose details about the ceremony itself Laura did say she and the girls are sure the closing ceremony can be as spectacular as the opening.

Laura said: “There are so many people performing that we have had to rehearse in two halves. The organisers have been amazing though and have provided us with Oyster cards for travelling, two pairs of shoes each and various other things.”

She also praised Eve and Lillia, who will be dancing at Millennium Dance College from September, for their personalities and of course their dancing abilities. She said: “The girls are both very talented. It has been a pleasure to teach them and they are both doing amazingly well.”
