The visitor economy is worth over £200 million to the Milton Keynes area every year and is a key part of region-wide economy.
To highlight this, Destination Milton Keynes, the official Destination Management Organisation for the City, is hosting a Visitor Economy Conference on July 18 to give businesses involved in the tourism sector the opportunity to find out exactly what the visitor economy entails and why it’s so important to Milton Keynes.
Exclusive speakers and presentations have been lined up throughout the event - including the keynote speaker James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland, who will be launching MK’s Destination Management Plan - the ten year plan for how the visitor economy will be managed throughout the city. We will also have presentations from Experience Bedfordshire and an exclusive insight into the new Center Parcs village, plus more speakers to be confirmed – watch DMK’s Facebook page for regular updates.
The event, which is supported by SEMLEP, The Stables and Experience Bedfordshire, will take place in the spectacular Spiegeltent at Willen Lake on Friday 18 July 2014 and coincides with the first day of IF: Milton Keynes International Festival.
Chief Executive of Destination MK commented; “In one way or another, most businesses in MK will benefit from growth in the visitor economy - this conference is the ideal platform for us, along with our national colleagues at VisitEngland, to really showcase what we’re doing and to get more MK businesses involved. This is a really key event in the 2014 calendar and I know people will take a lot away from it.”
The conference is open to everyone with an interest in the visitor economy and is especially recommended to those working in the tourism and leisure industry. Spaces are limited and entrance is by ticket only.
Tickets for the event, including lunch, are £25 (£15 for Destination MK members) and can be purchased online at www.destinationmiltonkeynes.co.uk.
