A huge pile of rubbish signifies the end of a three month environmental crime operation in Netherfield.

The operation was a partnership between Milton Keynes Council, Netherfield Parish Council, Thames Valley Police, Bucks Fire and Rescue, residents and businesses in the area.

Four lorry loads of waste were delivered outside the shops on the estate after being collected on Thursday morning.

It was left there for a short time as a visible display to people to educate them on the services that the council provides to remove bulky waste items and clean the streets.

A note asked residents the simple question: ‘Do you want to live in this mess?’

The intention was to support residents in Netherfield to improve their environment helping them to create a safer and cleaner place to live.

A council spokesman said: “As part of the wider operation more than 135 fly tips have been identified in the first two months, half of these have been cleared by the residents following guidance and support from the council’s neighbourhood management team.”
