Commuters who don’t want to pay £94 a month or £10 a day to park have an alternative.

MK residents, who live near the railway station and have available space on their driveways during the day, are renting the space out so people who are travelling on the train can park their cars.

Steve Rolfe, 50, from Bradwell Common starting renting out his driveway two years ago when he suffered a stroke. He was signed off sick for four months, but still had bills to pay so signed up with JustPark in a bid to raise a little income.

The electrician and father-of-three allows commuters to park on his driveway at £5.60 a day. He also plans to install an electric car recharge point.

He said some weeks were slower than others, adding: “This week has been hectic and I’ve made £47.50 this week.

“If I’m home, I give them a free lift to the railway station.

“Hiring out your driveway is getting more popular. I believe there are five or six in Bradwell Common alone.”
