AROUND 25 MK Dons fans have chipped in to pay for this fantastic new flag, set for its debut on the East Stand in Sunday’s big FA Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon.
The idea came from Dons fan Carl Sewell and friends who had been planning something big to show their support for the team for some time.
And thanks to contributions from people through social networking websites and thezone:mk fans’ forum, the flag – all 7m x 3m of it – will be at stadium:mk for all the world to see this Sunday lunchtime.
Carl said: “It’s something we have always wanted to have made – a new flag for home and away that carried a meaningful message and one to support our team.
“I tested the idea of everyone chipping in for it over Twitter and in particular the zone forum. Amazingly it received a huge backing, with pledges of donations from so many people, especially on the zone.
“So after a few calls and emails, we had a supplier locally who could arrange the flag. We collected the donations and a week later there it was, our new flag we can all take pride in and support the team with in future games – especially this weekend’s upcoming FA Cup tie.
“A huge thank you has to go, not to me, but to the supporters who chipped in so quickly without hesitation across the zone and Twitter.”
